Apple’s Liquid Glass UI dazzles with transparency and light effects—but Osman Gunes Cizmeci questions whether beauty comes at the cost of usability and accessibility.
Unveiled at WWDC 2025, Apple’s new Liquid Glass design language spans across iOS 26, macOS Tahoe, and beyond—bringing fluid, transparent interface elements to every corner of its ecosystem. The result is visually striking, with real-time refraction and dynamic blur effects designed to mimic the properties of real glass.
But not everyone is convinced. UX/UI designer Osman Gunes Cizmeci praises the aesthetic ambition while highlighting critical concerns: poor readability in bright environments, accessibility limitations for visually impaired users, and heavy GPU demands that may shorten battery life or leave older devices behind. “It’s stunning, yes,” he says, “but the most elegant design means nothing if it excludes users.”
